AT PITT-JOHNSTOWN…     Melissa, a 2004-05 Co-Captain, joined Coach Gault’s starting line-up last season and was the team’s second leading scorer (14.7 ppg.) and rebounder (5.3 rpg.)…she also finished third in assists (48) and steals…her 34 three-point field goals were second only to Crystal Barr’s team-high of 64…Melissa was also serious threat from the free-throw line by hitting 78 of her 96 attempts for 81.2%…Melissa was named Most Valuable Player of the 2004 Converse SC) College Tournament and to the All-Tournament Team of the 2003 Pitt-Johnstown Mountain Cat Tournament.  she led the Lady Cats in scoring seven times and rebounding seven times during the 2003-04 season…in three season as a Lady Cat, Melissa had highs of 27 points against Glenville State College on 01/19/04 and 11 rebounds against Saint Vincent College on 02/19/04…she also poured in 26 points in a home win over West Chester University on 02/17/04…nominated for the 2003-04 Verizon Academic All-America Team… Melissa has the talent and athleticism to be a star player for the Lady Cats…with her experience, Coach Gault will rely on Melissa to lead the Lady Cats in the scoring column and on the defensive end…also provides Coach Gault with a scoring threat from anywhere on the court at the small forward position…she  is a smooth player with good ball handling skills and the athleticism to shoot the three-pointer or drive to the basket…recipient of an Academic-Leadership Scholarship at Pitt-Johnstown…Melissa is also a member of the Lady Cat track and field team …daughter of William and Carol Patterson.

AT JUNIATA VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL...     Melissa was a four-year starter who finished as the school’s All-time Leading Scorer with 1,470 career points…she is only the second female athlete to reach the 1,000-point plateau in school history…averaged 19.4 points and 9.6 rebounds per game on her way to being named Juniata Valley League Most Outstanding Player…she is a two-time First Team Juniata Valley League All Star, a Second Team selection as a sophomore and an Honorable Mention choice as a freshman…named Altoona Mirror First Team All Star in 2001 and Third Team All Star in 2000… earned several Most Valuable Player and All-Tournament Team honors, including being named a 2000 Keystone State Invitational Camp All Star… earned Female Basketball Player Award, Female Athlete Award, Michael Hollingshead Award and American Legion Award…she was a PIAA State Qualifier in Track as a javelin thrower…holds school record with a throw of 124’8”…also a District VI Qualifier in the Triple Jump, 300m Hurdles and the Discus… earned Female Track and Field Award…Student Council Treasurer, Class Treasurer and member of the National Honor Society… coached by Maylin Musser at Juniata Valley High School.
