We invite you to the inauguration of Dr. Jem Spectar, the fifth president of Pitt-Johnstown.  This milestone coincides with our institution's 80th anniversary and is a fitting moment to pay tribute to the past, even as we look forward to a new beginning.

Established in 1927, Pitt-Johnstown has emerged as a flourishing campus of the University of Pittsburgh, a world-class institution.  Pitt-Johnstown's record of excellence is reflected in part by the accomplishments of students, staff and faculty; the record of achievements of over 17,000 alumni; the satisfaction of area employers; and the commendations of many external organizations.  Ranked in the top tier in its category, Pitt-Johnstown's retention and graduation rates exceed the national averages of similar institutions.  Proud of its legacy as a preeminent community citizen, the University ranks as a top employer and is a key partner in shaping the region's economic future. Nestled in an exceptionally picturesque campus in the Laurel Highlands, Pitt-Johnstown is a vital knowledge center and a foremost contributor to the area's intellectual, social and cultural environment.

In this 80th year we are grateful for our rich legacy symbolized by the many accomplishments of generations of alumni, students, staff and faculty, as well as, the generous support of our friends in the community.  As we embark on another beginning, we are Mountain Cat Proud of the past, the present and the future of our cherished institution.  Therefore, we request the pleasure of your company as we celebrate our 80th year and the inauguration of our new president, Dr. Jem Spectar.
