Penalties can occur for returned checks or if payments are not received.
Financial Holds
Financial holds prevent students from receiving University services including:
- registration
- add/drop • grades
- transcript requests.
Holds will be released immediately when the account is paid in full with guaranteed funds (cash, credit card, money order, certified check, cashier's check).
If paid by personal check the Hold will not be released for 7-10 business days.
Returned Checks
A returned check handling fee of
$25.00 will be charged for all checks returned from the bank for any reason. It is the practice of UPJ to redeposit all returned checks one time. The bank does this automatically without prior notification to the University. UPJ reserves the right to require that a returned check be replaced with guaranteed funds (cash, credit card, money order, certified check, cashier's check).
