William played for Head Coach Dan Shipman at Greater Johnstown High School where he led his team in scoring at 14 points per game. He also averaged five rebounds and four assists per game on his way to being named team Most Valuable Player as a senior. William scored a career-high 22 points against Central Cambria High School in 2003-04. William helped lead Greater Johnstown to a 25-4 overall record, a Laurel Highlands Conference Championship, a District VI Championship and a trip to the Second Round of the 2004 AAA Pennsylvania State Playoffs. He was also named The Tribune-Democrat Player of the Year in 2004. William, a two-year starter and two-year team captain, was a member of the National Honor Society. He was awarded a Minority Scholarship and the Honor Roll Award at Greater Johnstown High School.
