Matt was a four-year letterman and two-year team captain for Head Coach Jim Rocco at Penn Hills High School. Matt averaged 18 points, eight rebounds and 4.5 assists per game as a senior to lead Penn Hills to the 2004 Pennsylvania AAAA State Championship. He also led his team to two Section Championships and a WPIAL title. Ionadi, who scored over 1,300 points and pulled down over 800 rebounds in his high school career, was named All-WPIAL, All-Section and All-East Fab 5 following the 2003-04 season. In addition, he was selected to play in the 2004 Pittsburgh Hoops Classic and the Pittsburgh vs. Canada All-Star Game. Matt was a member of Who’s Who Among High School Students and Who’s Who in Sports. Matt also played tight end on the Penn Hills playoff football team.
