Men's Golf Finishes 11th at WVIAC Championships
10/22/09...Josh Miller's (Spring, TX) 54-hole total of 241 tied for 17th-place to lead the Mountain Cat golfers to an 11th-place finish at the 2009 WVIAC Championships at Stonewall Jackson Resort in Roanoke, WV. Concord's (WV) Ryan Terdik earned medalist honors with a three-day total of seven-over par, but Ohio Valley (WV) used a strong final round back nine to edge the Mountain Lions by three strokes and claim the men's golf team title.
Miller finished the tournament at +25 to pace Pitt-Johnstown. Ben Sera (North Huntingdon, Pa.) placed 31st at +31 (247), while B.J. Torau (Ligonier, Pa.) tied for 44th at +41 (257), and Jacob Bolby (Ligonier, Pa.) tied for 51st at +48 (264). Jason Vercellotti (Oakmont, Pa.) rounded out the Mountain Cat golfers in 56th place with at +54 (270).
Ohio Valley shot a +62 (926) to win the team championship by three strokes over Concord (+65, 583). Fairmont State (WV) (+101, 965) and Davis & Elkins (+101, 965) tied third, followed by Charleston (WV) (+109, 973), Bluefield State (WV) (+111, 975) and West Virginia Wesleyan (+114, 978). West Liberty (WV) (+115, 979), West Virginia State (+116, 980), Shepherd (WV) (+131, 995), PITT-JOHNSTOWN (+141, 1005), Wheeling Jesuit (WV) (+186, 1050) and Glenville State (WV) (+196, 1060) rounded out the 13-team field.
