Vira I. Heinz Scholarship Program

The Vira I. Heinz Story

In the spirit of generousity that characterized her life, Vira I. Heinz provided in her will for the establishment of a charitable foundation which provides for this scholarship.  The Vira I. Heinz Scholarship for Women in Global Leadership enables select women at each of the 15 participating universities and colleges located in Pennsylvania and Ohio to spend a period of time abroad during the summer.

Three Vira I. Heinz Scholarships are available on a competitive basis to sophomore-level, Pitt-Johnstown women who have earned a QPA of at least 3.0 and will return to the Pitt-Johnstown campus for the full 2010-2011 academic year. Each scholarship has the value of $5,000 and is generously provided by the Heinz Endowments.  The goal of the scholarshp program is to "prepare women leaders for tomorrow's global challenges."
